Strokes for Windows

The AI-native editor that keeps your files on your machine.

Most writing software makes you choose: keep your files on your own computer and give up the AI, or use the AI and hand your files to someone else's server. Strokes is a desktop editor for Windows and macOS that does both. Your documents are files in folders on your disk, and you can write, edit and export with no internet connection.

The AI lives inside the document instead of in another window: select text, describe the change, and a frontier model proposes it as a diff you accept or reject. Nothing changes silently. The assistant can also work across the files in a project when you ask it to, and every document keeps a version history on your device.

Import from Word, Markdown and Notion; export to PDF, Word, EPUB, Markdown and HTML in one click; share a document as a public read-only page. Strokes never trains on your content.

Free plan with base models and no credit card; Pro at $25/month adds frontier models, voice mode and 15x the AI usage.
